Every magazine graded by CGC is reviewed by knowledgeable professionals who conduct a comprehensive examination of both individual magazines and entire collections. Magazines are assigned a grade on a 10-point grading scale to efficiently communicate the assessment of the magazine’s condition. After examination, magazines are encapsulated in a tamper-evident holder along with the CGC certification label. While the holders can be safely opened by the magazine collector, they are designed with long-term preservation and display in mind.

Independent certification allows magazine collectors, both buyers and sellers, to trade with confidence by mail, phone or online because they know what to expect from a CGC-graded magazine. In operation since 1999, CGC is also the leading provider of certification services for collectible comic books and has graded more than 1,500,000 comics.
